The enlightenment came when i realised that high win rates are not everything, and i learnt to scale-up on positions to ride big trends upwards.
With my trading strategy "settled" (here), i will stick to my system and fine-tune it to reduce any doubt in my own skill, and hopefully catch more big trends moving forward.

The 3 new "top ten" counters are the fruits of the adjustments i made to my trends trading approach. While it did not occur over a very short period, rigourously culling weak positions and adding on more positions on counters that qualify, has helped me make gains that i would never have possibly have.
- AEM. Refer to here. after a nice uptrend, exited when the trend changed from uptrending to ranging. This counter is a milestone counter because it is demonstration of how my strategy has helped earn a profit in 1 order of magnitude higher. I do double that i will be able to get a 5-figure profit if i had stick to my initial approach. Hope to have a few of such counters each year!
- Mapletree GCC Tr. Refer to here. Held this position for quite a long time, and enjoyed a fair bit of dividends and now capital gain. At one point of time, i had about $6K profits... but then the trend changed, so have to exit.
- Creative. Refer to here. At one point of time i had about $5K of profits and scaled-up on this position..., but the price dropped, and i had to exit. of course it would have been nice to secure that $5k profits. however because i do trend trading, it is inevitable that i need to return a fair bit of profits back to the market, however the remaining is also not too bad.

In the last review, i did not gain any new entry, but this time round i did!
- Creative. refer to here. While i had FOMO-ed and entered this counter on the big surge, i was suppose to exit it and get a small profit, but instead doubled-up (accidental scale-up with all the wrong criteria) Subsequently I rationalized that I had to exit it to reduce exposure resulting in this slippage. retrospectively speaking, if i was careful... i would have exited with a $800 profit instead of a 745 loss adding one more "big loss" this is Strike 1 for 2018!
Conclusion
I cannot stress how lucky i am with this trading journey. Will let my trading go on an auto-pilot mode, as i focus on the following two aspects:
- career. To be able to put my human capital to better use, move out of my currently stagnant job with no progression. Hopefully i find something a bit more meaningful that makes use of my strength and with a possible route of progression.
- investments. Move being trading, and build up a plausible income through investing. I realised that for investing, i need to bid my time and identify good businesses at good value and good cash flow that will reward me with dividends. Of course right now the markets are too bubbly so it is better for trading than income investing. But i need to build-up competency so that when the next correction comes, i can exploit it to build a solid income portfolio!
