Of the 5 losses i shared, i am glad with the 4 out of 5 decisions, 1 neutral.
Of the top 5 winners i shared, i am only glad with 1 out of 5 decisions, 1 neutral with 3 regrets!
The regrets are:
- Venture Corp: Exited too soon
- Best World: Exited too soon
- Accordia Golf: recovered and could have collect dividends!
I guess this is what they say by letting winners run and cutting losers quickly!
Anyway was just triggered by one of the investingnote user on reviewing the top losers again, so might as well do for both winners and loser right.
Overall. I have made 83 trades (enter and exit transactions) about to breakeven -$400
- 2016. 19 out of 38 trades winners (50% win rate), but lost $1400
- 2017. 14 out of 45 trades winners (31% win rate), profit of $1000
- Jul 2017 till now. 3 out of 9 trades winners (33.3% win rate), profit $730. This period consider important because it is then that i started practising correct position sizing and understood proper scaling up technique. I also understood a bit more on how to spot for set-ups and how to enter.
- Dividends in 2016 was $4.6K, 2017 $4.4K.
Top Winner. Since the last update there is inclusion of 2 new ones!
- Guocoland: My approach was to enter small quantities and then scaling up on it 2 times before i hit my trailing stop loss. ( looking back, I might have again exited too early)
- Lian Beng: My approach was also to enter small quantities and then scaling up on it, and it hit my trailing stop loss. (now might be too early to say if i exited too early)
Top Losers. Congrats to myself for not having any changes, hope to keep it this way!
Conclusion
- High win rates does not mean profitable, and hanging onto losing trades is a sure-fire way to make a loss.
- Proper position sizing, riding uptrend, scaling up correctly will help you score your next big winner!
- Dividend investing in the right counters, might give more profit
- The biggest winner is probably MY BROKER! He earned at least $(83x2x25)= $4150 from my transactions! WAHHAHAH.
