Foreword
Did not do anything because there was nothing worth buying and my existing portfolio of stocks had nothing to sell. I will go back into scanning for stocks soon when i work out a slot in my life to do so.
Self-improvement
the past few months at work i found myself in a vicious cycle of stress that made me under perform and affected my performance and other aspects of my life. I was fortunate to manage to take a 1 week breather to reflect .
Because of the 1 week break, I implemented a start and end routine to optimize my performance. Though it is still a work in progress, i can feel the dramatic increase in well-being just by: i) having a well-thought out start of day routine; ii) a relaxation plan to wind down your day.
- Start of day: drink 2x cup of water => do 3 rep of static exercises( Jumping jacks, Push-ups, lunges, sit-ups) ==> shower( lather myself in soap&shampoo, shave, take a dump and brush teeth concurrently, rinse off)==> drink 2X cup of water ==> wear socks==> shoes ==> wear shirt==> head out of home
- End of day: without taking my mobile phone, take a 20min stroll => drink 2cups of water ==> shower ==> feed my pets for 10 mins
For my commute to work, I started by creating my to-do list for work while waiting for the bus/train and the excess time i can browse read articles on my HP . During the travel time on the MRT, i will meditate. When i walk towards office, i will not be distracted and work purposefully towards office.
For my working hours, I put it into 1 hour blocks, where i spend 10min thinking how to do something, 45min actually doing something, and 5 min slacking. Though there are many 1-hr slots in a work day, i plan about 4 of such hour slots each day, so that i cater for time where i need to collect info from my colleagues and have some buffer. i will try to increase the number of such 1 hr blocks in a work day.
For my leisure chillax time, i attempted to structure it in such blocks, but i found it hard to do so. but i will still figure out how to go about doing so. and update it.
Similarly i also deleted the apps that i found myself indulging in too much (FB and investing notes). Whenever i am doing somethings, i also feel there is this automatic gravitation to press certain apps.... so i will monitor.
Conclusion
I remember reading somewhere that our attention each day is limited, rather than wasting it away on browsing mindlessly on social media deliberately planning its usage and also placing rest in strategic time would maximise this limited resource we have.
