1 st post

Starting this blog to chart and document my journey as i embark on planning my finances and life for retirement at the age of 30 years old.

For an introduction, i am coming to 30 this year. I've always diligently squirreled up a significant portion of my starting disposable income ( 1k out of 2.5K + ) , and thought that by investing effort and time into your career that will be our best bet to securing a good future.

however at the age of 29 year old, something dawned upon me that by diligently investing the time effort at work was only one of many ways to get to the end point of a comfortable retirement. After 4 years of being in my first job after graduating from university, I had only experienced a total wage growth of around 10% over these 4 years! thus, i decided to take the plunge and sought greener pastures, and was rewarded with a 20+% increment on my basic salary. Only then did i found out more about planning your finances for retirement because my payable tax had risen exponentially due to the change in tax bracket.

So from reading up on how to reduce taxable income, led me to CPF special accounts to Supplementary retirement scheme(SRS) to investing in equities to building passive income and the related.

The enthusiastic me sought out people for discussion on investment strategies to hone my thought process, however unfortunately many of my peers were not too interested in planning for retirement and investing, and so i seek the greater internet population out there for such discussion.
please feel free to comment, and i will try to answer.
